I Went To Europe And It Was Okay, Part 8: Friday, December 24, 1999

After breakfast, we asked the innkeeper if our credit card had arrived; it has not. Shit. We are running out of money and we really need it. We cannot pay for this hotel without it. Patty gets on the phone with the bank and finds out it is held up in customs in Nürmberg for some reason. We will not be able to get it until the 27th. God dammit! That means we are stuck here until then. That means Amsterdam is out. I really wanted to see Amsterdam.

"Ich sehe nichts!"

While Patty waits to hear back from the bank, I visit the Medieval Crime Museum. It's pretty cool; they even have examples of corporal punishments used in schools. Later, we walk around town, but everything is closed.

Since no restaurants are open, Erika, our host, graciously provides us with a tray of bread and meat (and head cheese -- no thanks). We spend the night watching MTV, the only channel other than CNN that is in English. It was kind of bizarre watching Hogan's Heroes in German. Christmas eve in Rotenburg.
