Patty rents a bike to go to the bank to pick up our emergency money. I stay at the hotel and sleep a little more, since I did not get very much sleep through the night. Checkout time is noon, so I pack up our things as I wait for her to return. She gets back just in time.

We have a taxi pick us up and take us to the train station. After deciphering the time tables and double-checking things, we find the right train. We think. During the five hour trip to Venice, we have the compartment all to ourselves.

We arrive in Venice and have a taxi take us to the Grand Canal, where we have to catch a water taxi to get to our hotel. That costs about 90,000 lira. We check into Hotel Centuro (Centaur Hotel) and then walk around looking for a decent restaurant. None of them look nearly as good as the ones in Rome. Eventually, we end up at McDonald's. They have curry sauce for the Nuggets and it's pretty good.
