President's Day always inaugerates a state of intoxication within my patriotic liver. I think it's because of all those focking stupid commercials on TV with out-of-work hack actors dressed in wigs and knickers telling us how we can save a buck two-eighty on a leather La-Z-Boy. This year, I even saw one with the ol' kite flyer Ben Franklin in it. Man oh man, I must've been absent from school the day we covered the Franklin presidency.

I finally got around to seeing Mallrats for the first time. I guess I had held off because of the bad rap it had gotten. It had really seemed to have divided the Kevin Smith fans. I'll admit, its not one of his best, but I enjoyed it. It was pretty obvious that the studio had put restrictions on him while he made it. That suspicion was confirmed when I listened to the commentary track of the DVD.

Like all Kevin Smith movies, the commentary track is excellent. Out of all the extras, that's always the first thing I check out. I just got the Dogma DVD the other day, but have yet to get around to it. I'm looking forward to more of the always delightful Ben Affleck bashing. Hopefully, Jason Mewes doesn't fall asleep during this one.
