What You Miss When You Go To Bed Early

Tonight I saw the freakin' Northern Lights. This far south. In the middle of the city.

If you don't know anything about the Northen Lights (or Aurora Borealis, as the nerdy scientific types call them), seeing them under these conditions is pretty damn impressive.

I was driving home and saw these weird lights in the sky and initially thought they were searchlights from some downtown bar. Then my memory of seeing the Northern Lights about thirty years ago kicked in. Naaahhh, I thought. Couldn't be. Not here, not in the middle of the city.

About a half hours after I got home, I went to Fark and discovered others were reporting seeing the lights. So I went back outside and walked down the block where the streetlights weren't so bright. Sure enough, it was them. Freaky.
