Who the hell keeps giving Kevin Costner money to make movies?

I just saw a commercial for his latest called Open Range which has DIRECTED BY KEVIN COSTNER plastered all over it. That is not a selling point. Am I the only one who remembers Waterworld? How about The Postman? And there might be others that I've successfully purged from my brain.

The only reason I can think of why they've added this is that it's akin to the Surgeon General's warning on a pack of cigarettes. "Warning! Directed by Kevin Costner!"
