I Thought Only The Soviets Expunged Their Records

I just saw something I thought I'd never see again: the episode of The Simpsons where Homer's car is illegally parked in front of the World Trade Center and the family has to go to New York and get it. About halfway through it, I noticed something odd. As I had seen this episode several times before, it soon became obvious that a couple lines and scenes were missing. By doing so, they eradicated any mention of the World Trade Center and made it seem like Homer's car was parked in front of some generic building.

This irks me. I hate this trend of erasing any mention or image of the WTC in movies and TV shows. That won't make September 11th go away. If anything, I think it's slightly insulting to those who perished. What bugs me the most is there are plenty of people who want this sort of thing. It just strikes me as the equivalent of covering your ears and going "La-la-la-la-la! I can't hear you!"

When that season gets released on DVD, that episode better be uncut.
